Who Has a Bigger Problem With Women? Rush or the NOW?

It’s been over a month since Rush Limbaugh said those controversial comments about Sandra Fluke.  Now in no way am I defending what Rush said.  The point he was trying to make was valid but he could have used less inflammatory language.  Indeed if he called a woman in my life those names I’d punch him in the nose.  Rush is a consummate wordsmith and he could have made his point without stooping to that level.

And even though that happened months ago, the National Organization for Women is doing their best to keep this story in the news by organizing protests and setting up phone banks to harass radio stations and advertisers.

Can we put things in perspective here?  Rush said some offensive things towards women.  Charlie Sheen on the other hand has ACTED offensively towards women.  And while Rush has advertisers canceling him, Charlie Sheen mocks his behavior towards women and the law and gets rewarded with a Cooper Mini Ad.

Where is the NOW’s outrage towards this?  Why aren’t they calling for Charlie Sheen’s head?  Rush never beat a woman.  He never bragged about  flings with prostitutes or porn stars.  He never beat up a hooker and left her in the closet.  Charlie Sheen has done all of that.  And there’s not a peep about it when he makes fun of it for commercial gain from the ladies at NOW.

As much as I might disagree with what Rush has said it frightens me to think that we could live in a world where free speech gets punished and illegal activities get mocked and rewarded.   Rush said some things that were inappropriate and he apologized.  I would tell the ladies of NOW to move on, but Move On is another organization that wants to squelch free speech.

Let’s put our priorities in the right place.  Be consistent in your outrage.  And remember that actions can be much more painful and hurtful than words.

About the author

I have my PhD in watching human behavior. A diverse career as a Disc Jockey, Advertising Sales Manager, Stand up Comic and for the last 18 years Radio Talk Show Host has led me to where I am today. Fed up with the extreme left and the extreme right in politics. I don't think moderates need to be "mushy". If another American has a different opinion than me it doesn't make them my enemy. We are all Americans and all in this together. Extremists start wars. It's time for the moderates to stand up and be counted. It's time we stand up and tell our politicians to get us out of wars we can't pay for, to quit bailing out bad behavior by individuals and businesses alike. It's time to respect someone of a different religion, color, sexuality or anything else that makes them different than you. If they aren't hurting anybody let them be. But if they are hurting someone have them adequately punished. The Mad Middle are for people that want the government out of their life as much as possible. Fiscally conservative and socially liberal equals freedom.

If I’m not mistaken it was a “FIAT” advertisement …. Sorry to be so picky.
